City - death trap everywhere ...

This is right at down town city of Kuala Lumpur near KLCC, a place called Megan Avenue 1.

A narrow path walked into the power room ( Tenaga ) while the stair leads you walk up along the street.

After you walked up, you will see some part of the fence .... has NO fence !

Although it doesn't seem like anything, but its actually higher than 20 feets. A nice fall will just be the end.

Walk from AIA building to Park Royal, Kuala Lumpur

I wonder why every time I travel to another country I always have fun walk around despite how long the road is or how hot the weather was; but I don't do that in the place I live in. I swear I saw many foreigners have a lot of fun walking around down town in Kuala Lumpur. So I guess I will just walk today ...

This is the view out of Bandaraya LRT station ( transit with KTM Bank Negara). Do you know we have a Da Vinci hotel right opposite Sogo ?

After paying my dues in AIA, I started walking 'behind' AIA building where Jalan Bukit Nenas is. The view of KL Tower is phenomenon from here, as it always has.

There is a school near by, I walked in and found one of the entrances to the reserve rain forest beneath KL Tower.

At the end of Jalan Bukit Nenas, I saw the Olympia building, where Jupiter Online's office is, my main online stock broker. Opposite is where KL Stock Exchange building ( below ).

Cross the road and do some zip zap toward Jalan Ceylon, I saw a school church with a nice garden. Would love to have some tea right this spot !

Most roads are nicely shaded. But its still very hot and humid.

This would the high light of my walk today. Have you ever seen a road sign that says,

"Dead End !
Ghosts NOT Allowed !" ?

Approaching the end reaching the heart of the city ( Jalan Alor ), right apposite some of the hottest bars and pubs, there is an abandon building. I saw some people sleeping in there. It seems rather comfortable and convenient that they can go out to work at night or beg ....

Return Trip

George Mallory might not be known by many unless you are an Everest enthusiast.

He was one of the early Everest climbers. At his 3rd attempt to conquer the summit, he went missing instead. And the missing lasted 75 years until someone found his frozen body.

Climbing mountains 100 years ago is very different than now. There weren't much high tech equipments available. Mallory did use oxygen tank at the peak but I guess that's pretty much about it. But it seems that he didn't mind at all. He loved the cold.

One of the main reasons why he was famous in the climbing world is the way he answered a question, "Why do you want to climb Mount. Everest ?"

"Because Its there."

After his body was found, it has been a controversy if he had reached the summit. Many of his family and friends claimed that he did based on what was still on his body and what was not. However, no clear proof is found at the summit that he had been there yet.

Among the hefty arguments, one of them stand out.

"It doesn't matter if he reached the top,
if he doesn't make it back,
it is not a complete journey."

It strikes me at my bullseye. The last time I climbed Mount. Kinabalu, I didn't reserve any energy to climb down. As a result, I suffered greatly. I was focusing so much on how hard it is to climb up that I totally ignore the way down. I was thinking if I could make it to the top, what else would it be that I cannot do ? If it wasn't the guide the authority forced to tag along with me, which I strongly resent at that time, I must have spent a night at the summit for sure.

Life is a journey itself, while you are aiming high and climbing up ... have you given a little thought on how you would like to come 'down' ?

The other side at the peak of Mount Kinabalu

Once you reach the top of Mount Kinabalu, the highest peak in South East Asia. You are standing on a 50 square feet rocky area. Usually the first thing you see is the sky, sun rise and everything else is under you. Thats the east side.

If you turn around, you will see the shadow of Mount Kinabalu, cast by the sun shine. A pyramid's shadow ... with its tip at infinity. This takes more of my breath away than the sun rise. I have seen many sun rises. But I haven't seen anything that can block sun lights at this grand level ...

Then in between you would see the path you have just climb up from. The south side.

And the north is simply grant forest view.

If you turn back to the east side again and look down, you should see the scary part where it is free fall straight down to who knows where. Thats the side with the fences as well. The yellow oval marked in below map where I am talking about ...

Mount Kinabalu is a sleeping volcano. It has erupted before and it may or may not erupt again. This is the part half of the peak was ruptured and the entire 'hole' is black lava remains.

It is black, dirty, ugly and scary. But even more astonishingly amazing to me than the sun rise and the shadow. As if I am witnessing the fall of the half empire ...

What I don't understand is ... how come I couldn't find any one talked about this part of the peak ? And I couldn't seem to find any pictures taken toward this angle. I so wanted to take a clearer look into these lava scratch lines again ...

Sometimes when the beautiful sun shine is right there in front of you, you may not remember the ugly black lava beneath your feet.

Bonga - BEST Family Korean Food at Solaris, Mont Kiara

Korean restaurants are growing like mushroom in Kuala Lumpur but I don't really like Kim Chi. Usually I either choose Japanese or Chinese, Korean gave me a feeling of neither nor.

Except this Bonga in Solaris, Mont Kiara, totally run by 1st generation Korean. They occupy 2nd and 3rd floors by only 2nd floor is open to public.

You will have to get up through this entrance, either by walking up the stairs or take the lift. The lift next door will reach Bonga too although it doesn't explicitly said that on ground floor.

Once I stepped in and heard a 'hello' in English and thats about it. There is no more communication after that. Ok, I was exaggerating. But communication is a big gap, its just like I am in Seoul again, OMG ! Except ONE hot lady who speaks fluent English, since she has to deal with ALL Non Korean speaking customers, its one supply many demands market condition. Too bad I didn't take her picture ... you will just have to go visit her yourself.

There are many nice little decorative items all around the restaurant ...

And for people who knows me, dinner starts with liquor or in this case - Soju !

Its a little smoother than Japanese Sake ... but about the same ...

If you have been to a authentic Korean restaurant, you would have known they served tons of appetizers. And basically that is the MAIN reasons why one should visit a Korean restaurant ... at least I thought so.

Kim Chi !!! Many like it, its just ok to me ...

This pan cake or kuih type appetizer is a bit weird ....

BBQ time !! They started with REAL charcoals ...

Put on the grill tap ....

and BBQ away ! ...

We also had Kim Chi mix soup. Its almost like ABC soup or Chinese's mix veggie soup but with Kim Chi sauces of course.

This my NUMBER 1 recommendation !! If you come here, this is THE ONE you should try. One pot serve 2 persons and definitely able to serve up to 4 persons if you are small eaters or you plan to share other stuff - like the BBQ.

Fried Mackerel, recommended by another blog ... the fish is fresh but I am not that into this. Most people love it thao ...

It comes with this special rice too ...

This is what it looks like at the end ...

These are their menus ... just in case you want to plan what to eat before going ...

We were seated on the 3rd floor, perhaps because there are 13 of us ? These are the views outside ....
